Today Slow Food Seacoast celebrated our cultural inheritance at Emery Farm with lovingly cultivate & prepared heirloom produce and heritage breed animals. The strength of community was apparent as 400 came together at one of our oldest family farms. We are thrilled that everyone had great fun, but we also know that all of this good energy radiates out into our back yards, common lands, public markets, and around tables where we share what local means in our own community. As we go back to our daily routines...remember to ask for local &/or organic. When we know our farmers & the soils of our own back yards, then we eat local to preserve it! We preserve local economy, biodiversity, cultural history, agricultural innovation and environmental stewardship. In the process, we also end up teaching our children to cook a meal, plant heirloom seeds, recycle a maple syrup jug to make a watering pot...or simply to slow the fork down in community at a hot summer picnic!
