Today Sonia Gandhi asked in Gujarat why Modi did not appoint Lokayukta for 10 years. What nonsense! Half knowledge is always dangerous Sonia ji! It is Sonia Gandhis Congress which is damn scared of a neutral Lokayukta in Gujarat and did everything possible to delay a Lokayukta. In 2006, Modi government finalised the name of the retired judge KR Vyas in consultation with the Gujarat chief justice and recommended his name for appointment to the then Governor Naval Kishore Sharma (of Congress) but Sharma sat over the file returning it to the Modi government only in 2009 after Vyas had been appointed as the chairman of Maharashtra Human Rights Commission. There after Modi government twice suggested names but found itself being stonewalled by judicial delays or non-cooperation from Sharmas successor Gujarat Governor K Beniwal (former Dy CM of Rajasthan of Congress), who was desperate to appoint a die-hard anti-Modi critic and Leftist as Lokayukta. However, the term of the last Lokayukta in Gujarat ended in 2003 but the Modi government recommended his successor only in 2006. This three-year delay could be laid at Modi governments doorstep but not the delay from 2006 onwards. Astonishing that Sonia and co all howl against the Modi Govt for a 3 year-delay but do not utter a word against the Congress Governors stonewalling for 7 years! Sonia Gandhi ji, it is your Congress which is scared of neutral Lokayuktas and which delayed the appointment of Lokayukta for 7 years!
