Today a fellow competitor, a man whose accomplishments I deeply respect and whose career I have been following for a couple of years, referred to me as ‘An elder statesman of the sport of Strongman.’ ...he then proceeded to flame me for my aggressive reaction towards a mutual associate, who had very recently ‘friended’ me, and whose post in my newsfeed I took exception to. Darren: I am not sure I deserve the title of elder statesman, but I take both the compliment and your admonishment in equal measure. It is apparent, based on further discussion with our friend Simon, that he is in fact a PT with the drive, tools and passion needed to make a lasting, positive impact on his clients, well beyond the temporal, grab-bag attitude I’ve seen displayed so often in Health and Fitness, and which so enrages me. I am never too proud to admit when I am wrong.
