Today, a new law goes into effect in New York State that I championed as a State Assemblyman. The law will allow delivery trucks that are hauling building materials to be up to 45 feet long, including five feet of overhang. These trucks are manufactured to legally fall under the previous limit of 40 ft, but when a boom was added, they were in violation of law and subject to unnecessary fines that were harmful to the businesses that rely on these trucks for delivery of their products and goods. This new law is a testament of putting politics aside to get a result, and I am happy to see it go into effect today.
