Today, as I got off the bus at Riverside Avenue and Hemlock, I saw two young men who seemed to be taking pictures of the neighborhood. One was wearing an enormous overcoat. Oddly, he was wearing it over his head, like a cloak, and even at that height it was long enough to touch the ground. Both young men were wearing bulky sweaters, and neither needed a jacket of any kind. What the overcoat was for, I have no idea. I first spotted them standing in the middle of Riverside, snapping pictures and conferring. One of them was holding up a pole of some kind. When they saw a car coming up the hill, they trotted to the curb. I encountered them as I walked down the stairs. The young man in the overcoat was holding up a golf club with a smart phone attached. He was turning it in several directions. Was he shooting a video? Recording sounds? To what purpose? When they saw me walking past them, they seemed worried. One of them pointed at me, and they spoke to each other in a language that I guessed was Arabic. My own Arabic is a bit rusty, so I wasnt sure what they were saying. My best guess was He looks suspicious. Do you think we should call Homeland Security?
