Today at 12:32 pm I gave birth to my son, Alduse Lettsome. I remember not feeling any labor pains, jumping from 4 cm to 9 cm within 10 minutes and then his birth (I was told it was a girl so truly surprised at having a boy). Then I remember him not crying, his father was told to turn off the video camera and the nurses and doctor working on him for over 5 minutes. They spanked him and gave him oxygen but no response. He was blue and foaming at the mouth, his heart rate had dropped to 20 and his algar score was still 0 after been done 4 times. I remember asking what was wrong and no one responding. I saw my mother praying. Then his father walked over to him and touched his hand and said come in boy. My son let out one cry and then just looked around. He was a happy baby that always smiled. I didnt know the neurological effects of him not breathing until he was 5 years old. Having a child with disabilities has taught me patience, determination, tolerance of others and to never judge. At l8 he was diagnosed with epilepsy. He didnt let that stop him. He went on to get his certification in carpentry. He wasnt suppose to finish his training until December but he excelled and finished early. He finished two weeks ago and I am truly proud of him and how he has shown me that no matter what obstacles you face you never give up. HAPPY 20TH BIRTHDAY SON YOU ARE MY SUPERHERO! I love you❤️
