Today began totally unplanned here in Orlando. It was soon decided that we would brave the incoming tropical rains and drive to Tampa. Along the way there, we decided that the Clearwater beach off the Gulf of Mexico was our primary target. We spent a few hours at the beach before heading out on a whim to St. Petersburg to see the Tampa Bay Rays (one of the baseball teams I tend to care about) beat the Boston Red Sox 8-3 in a slug-fest. Finally, we enjoyed 11pm pizza in a parking lot before driving back to Orlando. It was a very full day. Locals get to do this every day, if they can afford it... It must be awesome.
