Today did not turn out as expected. We took Piglet in for her - TopicsExpress

Today did not turn out as expected. We took Piglet in for her post thyroidectomy follow-up. She didnt come home with us. Piggie was taken to the back offices to get bloodwork done, but before they could do anything, she turned blue, and then her paws turned red. After x-rays and the blood tests and a few hours in an oxygen chamber, many tears, and lots of discussion, we decided to help Piggie join her mother, sister and aunt at the Rainbow Bridge. Piggies second thyroid gland had moved, possibly into her chest cavity. There was no guarantee that a second surgery could capture it all. The option of targeted radiation was out, because nobody in Kentucky does it. Our closest option was at least 2 1/2 hours away. Since poor brave Piggie was so upset after the 30 minute ride to Lexington, we feared for her health on a much longer trip. Our very last option was medicine. The only way we could be sure to medicate our baby regularly would be if we decided to crate her. Thats no life at all for our sweet girl. So today, after 16 years of love and light, we said goodbye to our brave girl. Piglet, her sister Muskrat, and her mom TV came into our garage in California. Muskrat and Pig would hide in the line of agapanthus in our backyard and birdwatch. I just know that theyre together again now, young, and loving each other they way they did many years ago. Goodnight, my sweet gray girl. I miss you already.
