Today for my wifes birthday I took her to the Black Ox Bistro for dinner. Our reservation was for 8pm and we live in Brampton. We got to the restaurant 20 minutes early. We were greeted at the door by a lady who showed us to our seats. The place looked appealing with a dark ambiance but once we got seated we quickly realized it was still under construction. The waiter apologized in advance for the unfinished washrooms. We are not that picky so little things like that dont bother us. The menu looked very appetizing and we were super hungry. We ordered immediately as we were on a timeline. We had to travel back to pick up our baby from the sitter. We ordered just before 8pm. We ordered the garlic shrimp and the beef brisket poutine as appetizers. The garlic shrimp were mouth watering but the poutine was just watery. We ordered the mint lemonade and the 8 year old that has a lemonade stand makes better lemonade. It was sweeter than coke. We finished our appetizers and waited for our entrees. 830 came around and the waiter came by and apologized for the delay and advised is that due to a mix up in the kitchen our order was delayed. Like I said we werent too bothered. Thats is until 9pm when I had to approach the bar and ask where my order was. We decided that we were running out of time and would have to go home. The waiter apologized and offered to pack our food to go as it was ready to go. Since they insisted that the food was ready, we decided to stay and eat. What a mistake.... Cause guess what the food was not ready. After about 10 minutes we decided enough was enough and we decided to leave. The manager apologized for the delay and offered free desert on our next visit. I was like WTF? In my mind of course. So we obviously didnt have dinner and paid in full for our below par over priced appetizers. Food 3/10 Service 2/10 Establishment 5/10 Experience 2.5/10 Value for money 2/10
