Today has been a good day. Bob and I will soon be able to live without utilities if needed. We can heat with wood, and cook with wood. We have a lantern for light. If it is in the winter we would not need the fridge, if loss of utilities in the summer would be a challenge. We have fenced in acreage for raising our meat, a pond full of fish, a barn to milk goats or cows in, sheds for chickens. We have an abundant supply of hickory and black walnut trees. Yep we are getting there. I hope it does not become necessary, to go to this length to live, but it makes me feel better to be able to take care of our needs in times of hardship. When my Mom was ill an needed full care we had a ice storm that took out all the electric for a 3 week period. I do not want history to repeat itself, if it can be avoided.
