Today has been a very difficult day. As many of you know, last week we took 15 piggies as an emergency rescue in the worst state of neglect, 3 passed away within 24 hours. What we couldnt discuss (due to ongoing issues) was that the owner still had 17 piggies left to endure the terrible conditions and treatment. After we put together our report and findings with the first 15, and just over a week of tirelessly working to get the remaining piggies out we have finally managed it. The piggies were taken away from the owners and brought to us today and the owners have been banned from keeping any more guinea pigs. A good result in one sense but we are heartbroken that the 17 piggies who joined us today are in as worse a state as the previous ones, and have sadly had to endure another week and a half of neglect. They are very ill and one of the little ones looks as if he wont make the next few hours. All malnourished, underweight (some skeletal), have bad mite infestations and girls likely to be pregnant. All now safe though and we can only hope that we can help some of them recover their horrendous abuse. Here are some of todays piggies...
