Today here in Puerto La Cruz, I went to a guy to sew my running shoes. The guy, Abu Elias, is from Aleppo and from a financial perspective, he does not need to sit on a corner fixing shoes. He had 2 factories in Aleppo (which he sold recently due to the dire circumstances in Aleppo), and he has 2 cars and his 2 children are studying architecture in a good private university here. In my half-hour with him, we talked about a bunch of topics, but what captivated me most was his passion for his job. Never in my life has the expression "If you love your job, you will be happy in your life and you will be a very successful person" been so real. There will be a longer post on my discussion with Abu Elias (which included politics, religion and passion for work) on my blog (which will be published quite soon!)
