Today i attended the unveiling of Maggie Silversteins book of photos entitled DOUBLE TAKE. Like the venue it was held in the concept of the book spanned time and illustrated development. I have posted photos of the young Books and Books and the Grown Up Books and Books. What better place to show the beautiful portraits of young children and their siblings and then the same children in grown up portraits taken years later. The effect is engaging and throws a luminance on our own changing mortality. The portraits show Maggies virtuosity with the relationships inside the Grey Scale reminiscent of the late Irving Penn. The photos are all in Black and White yet they resonate all the color of the subjects personalities. They are organic. Kudos to Maggie on this book and congratulations to any of the families who had the good fortune to be her subjects. Thanks also to Mitchell Kaplan for hosting this exhibition.
