Today in - Desperation of European Wikipedia Editors: In this entry, the editor results to torturous logic to prove that the British Dennis the Menace was first (and therefore best.) FWIW, the American Dennis the Menace debuted March 12, 1951. But, heres what Wikipedia has to say about that... Coincidentally, another cartoon strip titled Dennis the Menace was published in the British comic The Beano (dated March 17 – the off sale date) in 1951. The comic went on sale several days in advance of the cover date (actually being published up to ten days previously), and therefore predates the debut of Ketchams version.[32] The UK Dennis is quite different in appearance and character, characterized by his red-and-black striped jersey, his dog Gnasher, and his gang of friends. Like the American character, the UK one remains popular to this day and has made the transition to television cartoons. ...up to ten days previously... That just smacks of desperation - It COULD have been published as early as the 7th! Really! Its true - the UK is just being held down by a conspiracy between DQ and Big Comic! Another funny thing about the Dennis article: Gina Gillotti — a fiercely independent young Italian-American girl, whom Dennis is mostly unaware that he has a crush on. How can one be unaware they have a crush on someone? Also, what kind of amazing art work is being executed in a single panel to express this conflicted, nearly schizoid behavior? Man, Dennis is deep!
