Today in 1976 Krokus released there self titled debut album Solothurn,Switzerland Progressive Rock (early), Heavy Metal/Hard Rock (later) Status:Active Years active: 1975-present Krokus is a hard rock/heavy metal band from Switzerland. Krokus was founded in Solothurn, Switzerland in 1974. There is not one original member left in the band. They enjoyed some popularity in the 1980s through MTV exposure and videos which made Krokus the most internationally successful Swiss rock band. In Europe, they toured with Nazareth and in the United States with AC/DC, Motörhead, Rush, and Judas Priest. Their album Headhunter was a platinum album in the United States. All of the rest of their albums went platinum in Switzerland. Krokus was founded by Peter Richard, Chris von Rohr, Tommy Kiefer and Remo Spadino. They began as a progressive rock band, but in the late 70s changed to their more recognised style after being heavily influenced by AC/DC. Following their debut album, Krokus merged together with the band Montezuma in 1977, with Chris von Rohr switching from drums to lead vocals. Von Rohr then switched to playing bass after they changed to a more hard-edged style for the Metal Rendez-vous album, with Marc Storace arriving as the new singer. The logo was designed by the Swiss artist Beat Keller. Their album Headhunter was a platinum album in the United States. So far, all Krokus albums have gone platinum in Switzerland. Lead singer Marc Storace was the singer for the band Eazy Money, their song Telephone Man featured on the NWOBHM compilation Metal for Muthas II. Krokus (also known - by the band in particular - as First Album[2]) is the self-titled first album by Swiss band Krokus. It was the only Krokus album to feature Hansi Droz and Remo Spadino. It is also the only Krokus album to show a progressive rock style.
