Today in 2006, I was in Wilmington with my mom Virginia Evans Born Carter, stepdad and friends Lynn Strickland Kersh and Darlene Skinner. While eating breakfast, Jerry called to tell me he had fallen out of a tree (he claims to have JUMPED OUT) the day before while trimming branches and had broken his foot. I just rolled my eyes and played along. A day later I arrive home from my trip. The day was beautiful. Neighbors were out doing yard work and playing in the street. And what did I see???? Jerry Brackett was cutting grass with a large medical boot on his foot...wrapped in plastic and duct tape. Needlessly... I fell out of the car laughing hysterically at the realization that he did indeed get in that tree while I was not home with a power tool...both of which I had asked him NOT to do before I left. And YES... He did fall (or JUMPED????)...he did break his foot... And because of April Fools...I didnt believe him. What wife laughs at her husbands injury???? This one!!!! Even worse...he told he he bought me a 2006 JEEP RUBICON that same weekend and I thought he was still lying. That JEEP is in my driveway right now. Stupid holiday!!!!!
