The ceremony is held at the Estrel Convention Center in Berlin. (VIDEO on link below) Transcript: Music of Thriller is played, MJ comes on stage Boris Becker (BB):Congratulations, Michael Jackson. BB gives MJ the Bambi Award MJ:Thank you. MJ takes the Bambi Award And dances a few steps to his Thriller, Then MJ gives BB the Bambi Award back MJ: Wow, thank you. Thank you. There are standing ovations, and the applause doesn’t stop. MJ: Thank you very much. (to BB:) How are you? BB: I’m well. MJ: Thank you so much. Oh boy, let me see. MJ takes his reading glasses and wants to put them on. MJ: I’m sorry, I have to use these .. ah. For a few words. Adjusting his glasses MJ: Ah .. Jesus. The glasses fit now. MJ: Okay, here we go. MJ was so funny now that most people have to laugh a bit. MJ: Dear Dr. Burda, dear Dr. Turnhofer, ladies and gentlemen, I have many good reasons for my visit to Germany. Coming back to Berlin, So full of energy, It’s very special to me. Berlin, Ich Liebe Dich. Applause MJ: September 11th has changed our world, And long ago the Berlin wall came down, But recently new walls were built. In 1989 people in Germany said Wir sind ein Volk We are Germans, we are Armenians, French, Italians, Russians, Americans, Asians, Africans and many other nationalities. We’re Christians, Jewish, Muslims, Hindus. We’re black, we’re white. We are a community. Of so many differences. So complex And yet so simple. We do not need to have war. Big applause MJ: And to the children of Germany I want to say this We need you. The world needs you. Please go for it. Go after your dreams. Go after your ideals. You can become everything you wanna become. Become an astronaut. Become a scientist. A great doctor And of course , become an artist Maybe you get a Bambi award like me then. MJ laughs a bit to BB and there is applause MJ: I want you to know I love Germany. You are very special in my heart So much really. Always appreciate the gift of life. Be happy And have fun. I love you. Thank you very much. Standing ovations start again. BB gives MJ his Bambi award back BB: That’s for you. MJ: Thank you I love you Okay. MJ is waving kisses to the audience and looks around, not knowing what to do.
