Today in Rome, the City of Eternal Love! I got very lucky this stay in Rome and have a top floor apartment with a beautiful terrace, bursting alive with many plants, vines and flowers. The wind chimes there dance musically in the breeze and I have coffee there two or three times daily, savoring the church bells, soaring seagulls and towering banana trees down below. At night a half block away college kids by the hundreds pack the streets to do shots, flirt and beautifully make delicious fools of themselves. I sometimes observe this passionate party from my terrace and relish that there is so much yet about life they dont yet know. Some of them will never know it, of course. Are they loud? Well, hell yes. But I say more power to them! And when I no longer find their roars a delight, I simply come downstairs and close the windows, letting them party till dawn. Is my new home here a good place to work on my thriller, part two? Yes, its damned near perfect! Feeling the romance of being an American writer in Rome is golden and only a true writer knows what a sweet ride it is. Heres hoping and praying, friends, that whether you are a writer or not you do something in your life often that arouses romance in your life and is as private as a mountain is tall! Ciao from Roma!
