Today is Global ALS/MND Awareness Day. ALS is a motor neurone - TopicsExpress

Today is Global ALS/MND Awareness Day. ALS is a motor neurone disease that is not particularly rare yet many people have never heard of it. This is probably due to the fact that patients usually die within a very short period of time (about 2-5 years from onset) which means there are not many people living with the disease. The quick progression might also be the reason why ALS is not very well researched (theres no money in it for pharma companies). Patients experience progressive muscle weakening resulting in complete paralysis and an unability to breathe. There is no cure. You can get more information here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amyotrophic_lateral_sclerosis iambreathing/ alsmndalliance.org/ Please do.
