Today is Global Tiger Day International Tiger Day, or Global - TopicsExpress

Today is Global Tiger Day International Tiger Day, or Global Tiger Day, is held every year across the world on 29th July. It aims to raise awareness for the plight of tigers in the wild and raise funds for tiger conservation charities. Tigers are listed as Endangered by the IUCN. It is estimated that there are as few as 400 Sumatran tigers left in the wild. This is mainly due to poaching and habitat loss. Flamingo Land is home to 5 Sumatran Tigers - a breeding pair called Bawa and Surya, and their first litter of triplet cubs - Kuasa, Bulan and Mentari. To mark this event, Visitors can take part in a tiger zoo trail across Summer, and guests can listen to a Tiger Keeper Talk and Feed at 1pm daily. Our Zoo Manager says Having the Sumatran tiger triplets here gives us a real opportunity to engage with our visitors about the plight of Sumatran tigers in the wild and how important our babies are to the future of this charismatic animal. We are pleased to be able to promote World Tiger Day. You can get involved with this event by supporting wild tiger conservation programmes through reputable zoos Further details can be found at 21stCenturyTiger.org The Sumatran Tigers - A great reason to visit us over the Summer school holidays!
