Today is Hokus 3rd Gotcha Anniversary! Mommys never had a paralyzed dog before but seeing Hokus expressive eyes mommy knew she had to help. Mommy learned more about what dogs endure in other countries like Romania and this is what opened our hearts and home to helping abroad...it all started with Hoku! Hoku was a stray and hit by a car that left her hind end paralyzed. She had drag wounds down her legs, broken back paws and necrosed skin. A lovely animal rescuer in Romania, Adriana, saved her off the streets, cared for her wounds and allowed her to travel to us. Hoku spent a little time in a foster home with Marius in Romania while she was awaiting her travel and so well taken care of and loved. Nancy with Romanian Animal Rescue and Roxanne with Fur Angels Abroad, a Colorado Non-Profit Corporation was looking for a foster or adopter...soon they found mommy and well...the rest is history! Its truly amazing to see so many wonderful people working together all to help one animal I know adopting a disABLED pup may seen daunting when you have not cared for a certain disABILITY before but if you have the heart and willing to do whatever you can to help them, then it will be all worth it!
