Today is International Overdose Awareness Day....normally, it would have been just another Sunday, right before Labor Day, but now each year it will be a day that I will regret, bringing back the memory of what took Adams life. But, even though I look at it as sadness, it is SO important...PLEASE talk to everyone about the risks associated with drug use. There is not one individual who is immune to this truth. Addiction is real. Addiction is a disease. If nothing else, please remember my boy today & my broken heart... and help stop the progression. Educate yourself. Not being educated was my mistake. Ill pay that price for the remainder of my days. Dont repeat my mistake. Because of this I, and many others like myself, ask you to do a few simple things today. 1) Please say a prayer for all of those who have lost their lives to addiction. 2) Help bring awareness to this epidemic by talking about the problem without judgment. 3) Most importantly, if you know of someone who is suffering from addiction, reach out to them. Let them know you are there for them and, despite their disease, you love and care for them. Working together, we can help and make a difference.
