Today is Monday, and its a holiday, so I have a day off. I slept in a little late this morning, woke up to sunshine pouring in the window and sweet little dogs snuggled safe and warm against me. Woke up in a nice soft bed, cuddled in blankets, knowing it was high time to get up and have coffee.... but before my feet hit the floor, I said a prayer and thanks to all who have served because its true - Freedom Isnt Free. Im a free American, because of my forefathers and so many of those past and current who enlist to ensure my freedom. How do I adequately say thanks for such a gift. This holiday - day off is NOT about me, it is about THEM, and I honor the purpose and why I was able to sleep in a few extra hours this morning. There is so much to complain about - far too much - the injustice of society, the cruelty of mankind against the environment, the way too high taxes on everything but air (yet), the politicians who play games to fill their bank accounts in lieu of helping people - and so much that is so unfair. Yet our veterans, and too many of them with handicaps, financial woes and some even homeless. I dont get it. I just dont get it. But in my heart I know - things could be SO much worse without our united forces in America... who are still there to obey and serve... and protect. We need to take the focus off of ourselves and our whining about what we cannot fix, and thank a veteran - not just today because its a designated day to do that - but EVERY day. And we should help them first, because they have helped us. We are free in America still and can remain that way, because of the most selfless, brave and serious men and women who are willing to give their lives for the honor of Miss Liberty. Remember them today. Please remember....
