Today is POW/MIA Recognition Day, which is observed on the third Friday in September in honor of prisoners of war and those still missing in action. In continuation of our Roosevelts theme this week, today we look at records relating to Americas entrance into World War II, during which more than 124,000 Americans were held as prisoners of this war, and more than 73,000 Americans remain unaccounted for to this day. December 7, 1941 - a date which will live in infamy. President Franklin D. Roosevelt uttered these famous words during an address to Congress the day after Japan attacked the Naval base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. That same day, Congress issued a declaration of war, marking the entrance of the United States into the second world war.
