Today is R U OK? Day – a national day of action dedicated to reminding people to regularly check in with family, friends and colleagues. I would like to encourage all our NSW RFS members to look after each other. We all experience life’s ups and downs, and it’s often workmates who are best placed to notice when something is not quite right. Taking time to regularly and meaningfully ask ‘are you ok?’ is something we can all do to increase individual and workplace wellbeing. Tips on how to ask ‘are you ok?’ are available on the R U OK website to help you start the conversation. I also ask all members to speak up if you notice that someone is being subjected to bullying or harassment in the workplace. The NSW RFS has a Counselling and Support Unit which provides information, resources and support services to members of the NSW RFS and their families. A comprehensive list of support services and resources is available on the R U OK? Website.
