Today is Tell Me Something Good Tuesday! For our first Tuesday I am sharing the brand new Once Upon A Time.... Little Free Library (Charter #12475) just started by our own Liz Kidd in Customer Service. For those of you not familiar with the Little Free Library program, it is a movement to foster a sense of community and connection as we share skills, creativity and wisdom across generations by installing a weather-proof library box to house donated books for the local community to borrow, return and replenish. Liz organized the project for her neighborhood and officially opened it on August 9,2014. Enlisting the help of friends and fellow church members, Jodi & Connie Moore, they donated their time and labor to construct a double -walled, weather proof library box and to collect the books. Liz said, One of the highlights was a time of story-telling for the children performed by my dear friend, Betty Treadwell and my nephew, Ben Tew. Refreshments were furnished and served by my sister, Sara Heijkoop. Afterwards, Liz, along with her brother, Gary Jacobs, was able to spread the news about the library throughout her community while greeting old friends, meeting folks who were excited about the library and donating books. Particularly memorable was one grandmother asking about any books about dinosaurs. The womans grandson is battling health issues and loves dinosaurs. With great satisfaction, Liz came home to discover a childrens book with dinosaurs hiding behind moveable flaps revealing T-Rex and friends. Liz said, I cant wait to deliver this one!
