Today is Thanksgiving. In our home we have many things to be thankful for this year. The biggest of these is the love and friendship we have experienced over the past several months while dealing with Scott’s digestive illness. We will never, ever be able to fully express how grateful we are to all that have helped on this journey and how much we appreciate each and every one of you and your part in literally saving his life. People have been so kind and giving, and on this day we only hope to let you know in a small way that we are forever grateful for the help we’ve received. First, Thanks be to God for watching over Scott and I, our family and our pups as we started down the path to his healing. Thank you to my long time friend Beth and her husband John for leading us to the Cleveland Clinic. Your offer of help to find a cure for his problems was a gift from God, to us a true miracle. Your kindness will never be forgotten, and stands as a reminder for us to “pay it forward” every opportunity we can. Heartfelt thanks and love to you both always! Thank you to Dr. Kareem Abu-Elmagd and his skilled team Dr. Khanna Ajai, Dr. Masato Fujiki and Dr. Koji Hashimoto for the life-saving surgery you performed. Thanks to PA Melissa also for the after surgery care. Thank you Neha for working with us on pre-op, post-op and surgery appointments, insurance claims and doing it always with a smile! Many thanks to the staff on G90 at the Cleveland Clinic, nurses Jenn, Mary, Susanne and Gisella. The Nurses aids Maria, Ondra, John and Sherria. Thanks to Housekeeping staff Connie & Carol. Each and every one of you was kind and helpful and treated us well. Thank you to Yvonne Mehlenbacher for setting up and running a YouCaring fundraiser to keep us afloat during this whole time until Scott can return to work. We so appreciate it! Thank you also Yvonne & Rusty for taking Otis and Luci while we were gone, they loved it, and we can’t thank you enough. Thank you Robin & Bob Flood for taking Jessa Jean and Danny, they also enjoyed their vacation, and it kept us worry free about our dogs. Thank you Lisa Tailby for taking Pilot, although I know it was as much fun for you as it was for him! Thank you to my sister Kim, who also watched the pups during the time we were gone. We appreciate it immensely. Thank you to our dear friends John & Gerry that took in our mail, watched our house and just generally worried about us as they do. We love you guys and the words thank you seems not to be enough. Thank you to each and every person that supported us in kind words, calls, prayers, donations, gift cards and with the outpouring of concern and love we felt throughout this entire ordeal. We can never ever say thanks enough! Scott is truly on the mend! His trip back to Cleveland a few weeks ago was a success. An Upper GI showed a normal working digestive tract, the Radiologist asked him what he was there for as everything looked rather normal! His sutures are out, and he is slowly regaining strength and stamina. He is eating without pain, and pooping is no longer a thing to celebrate, but just a daily function as it should be! LOL He does have to wear a sort of “girdle” when he is up and around as to not bring on a hernia until he is fully healed. He will be out of work for at least a few more weeks, then back on very light duty as he still cannot lift, push or pull, but hopefully computer work will keep him busy. He’ll return to The Cleveland Clinic in a few months for a check-up, but it seems that these wonderful, skilled surgeons have finally fixed the problem, and he almost has his life back to normal. We are looking forward to that day! We are blessed and thankful to God for this gift of life. We are also blessed and thankful to God for all of you - Our Friends and Family this Thanksgiving Day 2014. Blessings and Joy to each of you, and although I have said it many times….Thank You!
