Today is Veterans Day in the USA, and Remembrance Day in the British Commonwealth countries. Today we salute all the brave soldiers who fought for our freedoms and rights, and some who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our values. The song I am posting is called The Last Post, a British bugle call often played at British Commonwealth military funerals. The song reminds me of my great-grandfather, who fought in the British forces during WW1. He survived the war and died in the 1960s. The second link is about the late Air Commodore Leonard Joseph Birchall, CM, OBE, DFC, O.Ont, CDl of the Royal Canadian Air Force, (died 10 Sept. 2014), known as the Saviour of Ceylon (Ceylon being the old British colonial name for Sri Lanka), for warning the British forces in Sri Lanka of a Japanese attack. Had the Japanese occupied Sri Lanka, they wouldve oppressed and massacred the people.
