Today is #WisdomWednesday and we have a few key facts about insurance that we would like to share with you: Homeowners policies are written for 1, 2, 3 and 4 family homes that are lived in by the owner; hence the word “Home”. As long as one of the units is occupied by the property owner, this home is insured on a homeowners insurance policy. A Dwelling Fire policy is the type of policy that insures a rental property. If you own a 1, 2, 3 or 4 family house that is completely rented out to tenants, you need a dwelling fire policy, not a homeowners policy. If you own a property that is vacant (even for a few short months) you need a Vacant Property policy.
