Today is World Autism Awareness Day. I would like to share with our dance family a post of mine from back at recital time. 11 years ago I had a little boy that could barely walk. He didnt talk (but he did swear...). He couldnt kneel. He couldnt lie on his stomach and pick his head up. He didnt look at us. He was diagnosed with severe to profound autism and we were told that he would likely be institutionalized by age 6. He was diagnosed with mild cerebral palsy with muscle tone and sequencing significantly impacted. He was diagnosed with sensory processing disorder. Tonight he doesnt just dance- He DANCES! He flies, he leaps, he lifts, he flips, he sings. If you think dance class is too expensive for your child-let me tell you- Dance classes are PRICELESS. Thank you Allard Academy of Dance.
