Today, is a VERY special day for my family. 78 years ago, today, my mother was born. Although she never stepped foot on a college campus, she managed to become the very first African American president of the PTA at my Elementary school, William P. Hobby in Houston. She started the very first young ladies social group at Hobby Elem. called The Junior Volunteers. She went on to teach herself how to paint and sketch, which led to her works being featured at Texas Southern Univ. and various lobbys of professional buildings around Houston. She then went on, without training mind you, to become office manager for Post Oak Psychiatry and Dr. Robert Bacon. All this, including Den Mother for Cub Scouts; Team Mother for my Little League baseball teams; while also serving as wife, to arguably the most difficult person on planet earth to live with - my father, for 58 years now! LOL... And to think, with a spirit of Mary, she NEVER gave up the thought of one day conceiving ME, when after 7 years, they hadnt done so, and were told they might not ever. I thank GOD for her because she IS love. She lives it; she gives it, and she is adorned in it. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOMMA!!!
