Today is a beautiful day, and I am thankful for it. I have not previously mentioned on facebook that I was hospitalized in March for a pulmonary embolism (several of my physicians told me that I was fortunate to be alive). Since that time, I have rarely ventured outside the house, and then primarily to go to the clinic to have my INR tested. I have only been able to make it to church once (Palm Sunday), and on that afternoon my legs swelled up dramatically, making me reluctant to go anywhere that would require extended sitting, standing, or walking. I have been able to continue my research for the books I am currently writing, but only by doing so in bed, where I can keep my legs elevated. Of course, I do get up from time to time to walk around some, but not for lengthy periods of time. This morning, because the weather was so good, Huisuk and I sat outside on the deck and had our morning coffee. While enjoying the view, our chimes, and conversation with my lovely wife, I was reminded of Gods tremendous grace, and for that I am very thankful.
