Today is a big deal. I work most weekends and really since Lola was born, between working restaurants and psych wards our whole days together havent been as many as families with more traditional schedules have. January changes all that, but in the mean time I try to make a big, big deal out of days I get to spend with my little one. When I do get time with her, its usually amazing. But sometimes, honestly, by the time I tuck her in I am mentally counting off my failures. Not a practice I recommend. Did I lose my patience at some point? Did my made up plans get derailed by a childhood moment and I missed it because- plans? So I prepare. Today I did some heart pumping, vinyasa flow. I incorporated a lot of heart openers and set my intention to just be present. We are going to an art show, seeing a Mary Poppins musical, dining out, lots of things. But to go with the flow and make the day all about memories with my girl, Ive got to prepare to show up for that. So that stress, old stuff and expectation doesnt get in the way. Namaste.
