Today is a day we have anticipated and Looked forward to move - TopicsExpress

Today is a day we have anticipated and Looked forward to move past. The trip we made to Florida was partly a reprieve to what was to come. After a simple infection, Thomas Schmeling had gotten advice to get an MRI of his lower half. A golf ball sized tumor was found in his small intestine called duodenum that grew from his pancreas. This is not pancreas cancer. This is the cancer Steve Jobs]died from but he chose alternative medicine and it was too late for him. We are early and lucky! It is called a neuroendochrine tumor that is a form of cancer but after this 6-7 hour surgery today at 9 am, he will have a long recovery of 7-10 days in hospital and 6-8 weeks at home. We have been going to doctors for a few months anticipating this like going into battle. We know we need to get er done and get on with our very busy lives. He will be just fine. He will not need chemo or radiation. There is one unknown until they get in and see the tumor. The unknown is how close it is to a certain spot and if it is far enough away, he will have a lesser procedure, if it is close, he will have a full Whipple that will change his stomach forever. He will have to eat smaller more meals per day and never be able to eat a big steak dinner again. We are beyond thankful for your prayers and ask for nothing more. Tom is one of the greatest, strongest person I have ever known and he will prevail. He is on the cusp of changing Arctic Cats history. This will be news someday and he has done it all on his own with one phone call. He is in a big point career wise and needs to get back to his work, and family life, which drives him. It will be there when he is ready and after this post, he will see the prayers coming! He is a great husband, dad, friend and lover. He is our rock. Love, Jaimie, Nate Nemeth,
