Today is a double happy day, first day of Spring (yay!) and National Happiness Day. What a great combo to celebrate. Did you know that happy people are generally healthier? In fact, happiness appears to make people more resistant to heart disease and stroke! People who consider themselves happy are less likely to get sick. Happy people also tend to feel more confident in their life, which means they live more boldly and vibrantly (with less fear). Studies show a more important link between happiness and health than basic needs like food, water and shelter. How much control you have over your life and work influence your happiness level-and your health. For those that dont feel they have much say in their job or how its performed report lower levels of happiness, or less consistent levels. The good news is, happiness is like a muscle-you can do things to pump it up and make it stronger. So, what can you do today to pump your happiness muscle without even leaving your seat? Visualize and feel! Remember at least 3 of the most positive experiences youve had during your life with as many details as possible, recall an act of kindness you did for someone, remember at least one instance when you were successful doing something, picture yourself in the situation and how you felt, recall a time when you felt inner strength and confidence as vividly as possible, picture yourself doing something for self-improvement. Other ways to boost your happiness, read positive quotes, affirmations, help someone in need, give someone a compliment, smile for no reason, take a deep, cleansing breath…now your turn…what can you do today that will build your happiness muscle? Share your ideas!!!
