Today is a sad day in the life of our choir as we sing our final - TopicsExpress

Today is a sad day in the life of our choir as we sing our final farewells to Ray. We will give him a true choir send off with some beautiful music, prayers and readings, a sung procession and a guard of honour, but most of all we give him and his family our love. When I was first appointed as director of music at Wenlock over twenty years ago, Ray and Francine were two of my first new recruits to the choir as we endeavoured to boost the choir numbers, Claire was my first head chorister. Since those early days they have given a huge amount to the musical life of our parish, being key fundraisers for both the piano and organ funds and their home was a place we gathered for choir socials, their participation was exemplary. Over the last couple of years work and family commitments meant they have not been with us very often, but kept in touch via this page and joined us when we sang at Brecon Cathedral in August. When I visited Ray in hospital, even though he was very tired, one of the first things he asked was hows the choir? and as the time approached for us to leave, dont worry Ill soon be back singing Ray may flights of angels sing you to your rest and may you join with them in heavens song.
