Today is a special day. Not just for this man, but for me too. Over the years upon growing up, Ive learned a lot. Whether he was always around or not. Weve had our tension...silent tension...for years. Years of pain and tears of not growing up with this man by my side the entire time. However, he was never truly absent. Almost a year ago, I made an impromptu move to Arizona with this guy, and I hated it. But as time passed, I realized that this may have been the best move Ive made in my life. He got me out the hood. Got me off the couch and into a bed. Made sure I was well fed and enjoyed my stay knowing how bad I didnt want to be there. We werent always on good terms, but today Im proud to say that he is one of my best friends. He is my father. An amazing man. A great leader. A wonderful father figure. After living with him and doin some talking, those tears of pain turned into tears of happiness over time. Our relationship has been mended entirely and I have nobody to thank but God himself. I thank God for my father and for the mending of our relationship. Now its nothing but laughs and good times. Cereal, The Office, and 2k and boxing. 2 mile runs in the evening. Movie nights. Father - son quality time. I guess point Im tryna make is, this man makes me happy. He restored my peace. This is a special birthday to me because of what weve built this year. In a matter of time, weve reconstructed a relationship that will last a lifetime. Thanks for everything Pop. I love you dude. You made another year and I think this birthday means more to me than anything else right now. Thanks again for everything. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAYNE!
