Today is a trip downtown to the Cox Convention Center with my daughter. We are attending the anime convention called Izumicon. This will be the third time Ive escorted my daughter to one of these conventions, and I hope I get it a little better this time. For those of you who dont know, anime conventions are like a huge costume party, with a Japanese flare for games, books, drawings, jewelry, commissions (paying to have an artist draw or sketch a specific character or picture the customer wants). My daughter is going as Waluigi from the Mario stuff. Im going as Lieutenant Dan from Forest Gump. Skits, sword fighting exhibitions, costume (con) contests, anime stores galore, and panels, where a host will chair a discussion about a specific anime series. Im still a bit lost, but am learning. Some of this stuff is really, really dark, and even downright blasphemous. I thank God that my daughter has he gift of discernment and stays away from that particular level. If any of you are taking your kids, please keep an eye out for us, as I am stranger in a much,much stranger land. And people thought the Beatles were weird.
