Today is always a hard day for me. Its been 34 years since John Lennon was murdered. Ive been thinking about it a lot more than I usually do this year, for whatever reason. I try not to be too down about it, because, after all, it happened a few years before I was even born and Ive had literally my whole life to accept it. He wasnt my cousin or anything. But the sheer senselessness of the act makes it hard to absorb. In any event, I am glad for the time he had. Heres a song he recorded at home before he died on the piano, that the other three Beatles later added instrumentation and background singing to. This version has been manipulated so that Johns voice and piano are playing back at the pitch he played and sang in when he originally recorded the track. The finished Beatles version has been altered, changing the sound of his voice.
