Today is kind of a big day for me. I received my red xlr cables today and ribbon mics in the mail earlier this week, thus officially completing my studio setup Ive been working on for a year. Im ready to make some stinkin records! Heres a test recording of the drums. for the tech nerds: condensor on the snare and floor tom. shotgun on the hats. super 55 under the ride to make the kit sound more full. Homemade subkick and a Audix d6 in the bass. and the crown jewels, two fathead ribbon mics in a blumlien configuration for overheads (mixed using mid/side technique) mixed with some light EQing and compression. Also this is the first time Ive tried the m/s technique. none of the other mics have been panned, and its crazy how wide you can make the kit sound with just the side tracks out of phase! alright! lemme know who wants to make some recordings!
