Today is like every other day. Its a day to reflect upon the cost of freedom and to honor those who paid the ultimate price for it. RIP Danny. F Company 51st Airborne Long Range Patrol (LRP) Unit Statistics 25 September 1967 to 1 February 1969 Number of days in operation: 439 Number of light (6 man) teams infiltrated: 716 Number of heavy teams (12 men) infiltrated: 281 Total number of combat patrols: 997 Number of times enemy sighted: 808 Number of times contact made with enemy: 403 Number of enemy killed, physical body count: 551 Number of enemy killed, probable, visual report: 189 Number of enemy wounded, visual report, not counted as probable: 54 Number of enemy taken as prisoners of war: 57 Number of artillery missions fired in support: 292 Killed in action/died as a result of combat action: 12 Died not as a result of hostile action: 3 Wounded in action: 139 Missing in action: NONE Other friendly killed in action: 4 Other friendly wounded in action: 7 *********** Company F, 51st Infantry is the finest and the most professional long-range reconnaissance force in the United States Army. Its members have killed more of the enemy with fewer losses than any similar unit. More importantly, Company F, 51st Infantry has been the main eyes and ears for II Field Forces, Vietnam, and many of the past years battalion and brigade operations conducted in III Corps Tactical Zone have been based upon information developed by the men of Company F.
