Today is my last day (for this year anway) to post a metronome commentary, something that I havent done in quite a while. People chimed in with opinions yesterday and it occurred to me that precedence beats comments. No matter what I say or what someone else might say about metronomes, precedence speaks louder. So here is a challenge, And I will bet that few can succeed in it. Using interviews and your knowledge of bass history, name any bass player that you are aware of that claims to have improved their time by practicing with a metronome. Just their names! The challenge is that if you cannot name anyone, dont make any comment or post anything, any video, any news story of any kind. It is here that I am sure that people will not be able to contain themselves. I want to make this a specifc data gathering event. So do not comment whatsoever except to name names of bass playing metronome users that you are aware of. There are millions of people on the net. You can gather a lot of names if you share this article. But, I am certain that people will comment because it is not in the nature of some people to restrain themselves. So here is another challenge. When someone posts a comment, dont respond. This totally deviates this post from its intended course, that of allowing metronome proponents to show precedence for the device that they either practice or teach with. So, today is the Day of Restraint. Dont write anything other than naming muisicians that you know of that used a metronome. There will be a very big lesson to be learned today if this post ends up nearly empty of names, or that contained comments from people where resisting making comments was too much for them.
