Today is my mothers birthday. Zelphia LaVern Greenhalgh Frost. Born July 31, 1913. She died 18 years ago, at age 82. I miss her every day. So much of WHO I am comes from her, to the point that I cannot even share it personally, the emotions are far too powerful, profound, and inestimably deep. I so admire Scott Simon, NPR radio host for sharing the intimate memories of his mother is such a very public way. "We never stop learning from our mothers, do we?" Truth. The farthest I have been able to go in paying tribute, homage, and honoring my mother is a character--Sister Dottie S. Dixon, patterned directly from my mother. Happy Birthday Mom.
