Today is our third day of intermitent heavy rains here in Colorado, and the forcast remains dismal of continued rain for the next three days. We are making national news. All day news of the devastating floods fills the airwaves. The TV programming was just interrupted again with another Emergency flash flood warning for four counties, including Larimer where I live. So far our area seems to be spared. I live up on a hill and not near any waterways (Thank God). Three people have died due to the floods. It looks like Boulder has been hit the hardest so far with almost 8 inches of heavy rain. Boulder is about an hour southwest of Fort Collins. A beautiful college town nestled in the Rocky Mountain landscape. They closed schools and the University of Colorado there due to flooding. I think they closed schools here too. I just saw some kids walking down the street with backpacks on. Rivers streams and creeks are at flood stage. Roads look like rivers and bridges are collapsing. Basements and businesses are flooded. Cars are being carried away with the raging waters. Longmont, which is about forty minutes south of Fort Collins just evecuated 500 residents from their homes. The major concern seems to be the burn areas, where there is no vegetation to stop the water from raging down to lower grounds. The govenor has declared a state of emergency. Please remember us in your prayers!
