Today is shaping up to be one whale of a day with the highest - TopicsExpress

Today is shaping up to be one whale of a day with the highest highs, the lowest lows, and almost everything in between. My smart, beautiful, more hilarious by the day daughter Noel will be graduating from the 8th grade. She finishes middle school with 12 consecutive terms on the honor roll… many at 4.0. I couldn’t be more proud of her accomplishments, or the person she is becoming. Both mine and Alex’s mothers will be down to help celebrate the occasion (along with Mom’s oldest friend Linda). Special times that can’t be taken for granted. After tonight we will be going our separate ways for a while; Alex to Moses Lake, then Noel and me to Region 4, then Alex to Japan for business. We will not be together again as a family until the 4th of July. This will be the longest I’ve spent without seeing Alex in over 18 years. Lastly, tomorrow we say goodbye to the lovely SW Shai Monalia. She probably has the largest eyes I’ve ever seen on a horse. This spectacular mare was one of the grand matriarchs of Gradin Arabians. She produced eleven foals, many of whom have been exported. Her produce and their offspring are represented all over the globe. I was very excited to breed her to Truman, but it is not to be. Yesterday she got down in the pasture and couldn’t get up. She is too wonderful a soul to allow that to happen more than once. Good horses (or good dogs for that matter) just aren’t with us nearly long enough. I can’t help but think of Claudia Gradin…Mona certainly would have made her proud.
