Today is struck me then when faced with adversity we either (a) respond with grace and dignity and seek to effect change through the dismantling of stereotypes and mindsets by our very act of civility; or we (b) seek to be an instrument of change whereby we refuse to be defined by the very adversity that we are facing and we actively work to effect a program for change and/or enlightenment. The question that I ask myself is what makes one approach more correct than the other in any given situation when the end result is always the same? To my mind history has revealed that the end result is ALWAYS truth, enlightenment, what is right, goodness, light. Dr. King believed that it was only through love that Black people could ever deal with their adversary that is the triple-whammy in Racism, Poverty and Militarism. Still I will ponder as one "living the dream" in our own juxtaposed society, even as the dialogue continues in my head while I listen those occurring around me.
