Today is the anniversary of the Obama Administration’s “Recovery Summer,” which was sold to taxpayers as the dawn of explosive economic growth directed by government expertise and fueled by the White House’s “stimulus”. The CBO now estimates the stimulus cost taxpayers $830 billion. If the $347 billion in interest payments on the borrowed money is included with the total, the government’s make-work program was well over $1.1 trillion. Now, after more than $1 trillion spent to create “shovel ready” jobs, Americans are left with a shrinking economy, lower-paying jobs, increasing income inequality, fewer people in the workforce and a record amount of foreign-held debt. Grab your sunscreen – it’s four years into the “Recovery Summer” and the American people are fried.
