Today is the big day! Dancing with the Stars finals! I only have a few minutes before I go into makeup, but I want to share some things about this season. First of all, I’ve never worked with anyone who has had MS any sort of chronic illness, so I had absolutely no idea what to expect this season. I also didn’t know what to expect from Jack Osbourne, but the moment we met, we clicked. We have the same sense of humor and have laughed through much of our time together. Jack doesn’t really like to talk about his MS and he never complains, even when I can see he’s hurting. During the first half of the season, he barley mentioned it at all, and whenever someone brings it up, he brushes it off. That’s just how he is – humble, strong, and resilient. I’ve never been inspired by anyone the way I have been by Jack. He has taught me to nurture everything in life and not take anything for granted. My experience with him has been so much bigger than the show. It has affected me as a person and has been somewhat of a reality check. The little things I used to stress about - they just don’t matter anymore. This season is about something so much greater because of what Jack has been through. I’ve never cried on the show before. In all 16 seasons, last week was the first time I really lost it. Jack brought out an emotional side of me that no one has seen before. They don’t show us the video packages they make for everyone before the show, and when they played Jack’s video, I just couldn’t help myself. I realized that if I were to wake up one day blind in one eye, I don’t know if I would be able to continue on. And yet here Jack is, the first one to show up at rehearsal and the last one to leave, even when he’s not feeling 100%. Whatever happens tonight happens. We’re going to do our best, and I would love to see Jack take home that mirror ball trophy. He is truly what that show is all about. But it’s kind of like the story of Rocky, even if he doesn’t end up as the champion, he’s still a winner for overcoming so much and fighting to the very end. Thank you all for sharing this journey with me. See you tonight! Cheryl
