Today is the birthday of the Rebbes wife, Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka. She was known for her kindness, sensitivity, humility and modesty. Her dedication to the Rebbe was extraordinary. The Rebbe and his wife had a marriage of true love, trust and mutual respect. Reading about their relationship inspires me and serves as a role model in my own personal life. Just one of the many stories Ive come across... I hope it will inspire you, too. :) The Rebbes wife, Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka, was suffering from an eye ailment. The man who arranged for her to see a specialist asked her, Did you ask the Rebbe for a blessing? I didnt, she responded. But Rebbetzin, he said respectfully, people write to your husband from around the world asking for his blessing. Why dont you do the same? I dont want him to worry, she replied simply. The man decided to bring the matter to the Rebbe himself. The Rebbetzin has a problem with one of her eyes, he said, and Ive arranged for her to see a specialist. She doesnt want to mention it, because she doesnt want the Rebbe to be concerned, so I want to ask you for a blessing on her behalf! The Rebbe said, Thank you for letting me know about her condition. I will offer a special prayer for her, but please dont mention to her that you told me. I dont want her to be upset. ~ Selfless caring? True mutual sensitivity? Sometimes its what you dont say that best expresses your affection.
