Today is the feast of our Lady of the snows. Although I could not find any documented evidence when I was doing my dissertation there was a long-standing story saying that in 1887 different Italian factions argued over what to name our Lady of mount, parish. Of course the bishop eventually decided upon our Lady of mount Carmel . In a desire to honor their own local patroness the Italians of the area soon afterward built our Lady of the snows on Graham Avenue established one year after the Mount Carmel parish. If this is a true story and the bishop had decided on our Lady of the snows the feast if it existed at all would be taking place today
